Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” returns to the big screen under the direction of Justin Simien, featuring a star-studded ensemble including Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, and Danny DeVito. The film centers on Gabbie, a single mother, and her son Travis, who move into a haunted antique house. They seek help from a diverse group, including a priest, a medium, and an astrophysicist, to rid the house of its supernatural inhabitants.
Despite its promising premise, the film falls short in execution. The script, penned by talented writer Katie Dippold, delivers forced and flat humor, with Haddish and Wilson carrying the comedic weight. While the movie occasionally offers playful chases and spooky sequences, it struggles to maintain tension until the third-act climax.
“Haunted Mansion” explores themes of grief and vulnerability but misses the mark with its underdeveloped characters and missed comedic opportunities, preventing it from becoming a Halloween classic. Visit hdtoday cc for more!
